Sports Project Apprentice

The Sports Project Apprentice will support the delivery of Right Track’s training programmes, demonstrate excellent standards of behaviour and work ethic, and support senior delivery staff by ensuring all kit is available for each session, putting out equipment ready for sessions and by interacting with the learners to support their learning.

There will be a framework of coaching and teaching principles to work within but Sports Project Apprentices are expected to bring their own ideas and knowledge to support Right Track’s further development. Apprentices must be confident and have a professional approach to their delivery and be a team player. Apprentices must have a willingness to gain experience of working with young people who exhibit challenging behaviours. Many learners have either been excluded or are at risk of being so. There is also learners who can have issues of low self esteem, anger management and other health and social issues that will be regularly addressed though our provision.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To support the delivery of fun multi-sports based sessions designed to teach vital life skills and to collect evidence to support the achievement of qualifications under the guidance of the Project Lead.
  • To set out sessions, under guidance from the Project Lead before participants arrive.
  • To ensure all kit is in good working order and available for each session.
  • To generate new ideas for the development of the programme within the coaching and teaching framework.
  • To support the colleagues and students during sessions through teamwork.
  • To take responsibility for own personal and professional development.  As this is an apprentice position, further learning will be an integral part of the programme.  However Right Track have a policy of Continuous Professional Development and it is likely that on completion of the apprenticeship programme further training and development will be required.
  • Applicants must be prepared to gain experience of working both in and outside of a school environment with students who may exhibit very challenging behaviours.  A good level of personal confidence is therefore a requirement of the post.
  • All applicants will be subject to an Enhanced CRB Check. A recent CRB check would be advantageous.

The candidate must have an active interest in sport. Ideally they will participate regularly in a sport and may even have a coaching/sports leadership qualification.

To progress within the company a full driving license will be required and therefore candidates will need to have an interest in learning to drive or be already learning.

Successful apprentices can expect to progress to Project Assistant and then onto Project Lead in time. Right Track are fast growing and we are looking for people who can grow with us. There are therefore a growing number of progression routes within the company that an apprentice, once qualified could move into.
