There are a range of health and social issues affecting young people which are widely reported in the press and also feature prominently in official statistics produced by Department of Health, Department for Children Schools and Families and to Home Office. These issues currently create budgetary pressures for government departments which in future years will affect the UKs economic performance as an increasingly larger proportion of the population are unable to provide a viable economic contribution. For the young people targeted by Right Track Social Enterprise the position is perhaps more worrying, as they are currently restricted in terms of their power to improve their situation by a number of factors: - Low levels of educational attainment themselves
- Low levels of educational attainment within the family
- Low levels of understanding of the need or ability to change on the behalf of parents
- Low levels of self esteem and aspirations
- Lack of access to alternative provision that will positively impact on their ability to take responsibility for their own lives.
In many ways therefore the children and young people that Right Track Social Enterprise are trying to reengage with are already trapped in a lifestyle that will create unhealthy and economically, inactive citizens. The Government, through its Every Child Matters framework has indicated its intention to ensure that this situation is changed and as a result a wide range of initiatives have been put in place at national and local level to address the 5 Every Child Matters outcomes: - Be healthy
- Stay Safe
- Enjoy and Achieve
- Make a Positive Contribution
- Economic Wellbeing
Right Track Social Enterprise will support current initiatives and in doing so these 5 outcomes by providing alternative, sports based provision which teaches life skills, with a strong emphasis on empowering the child or young person to achieve their own objectives in a way that will overcome a lack of parental support or low income.
